Journal ArticleDOI
Fluoride varnishes for preventing dental caries in children and adolescents.
TL;DR: The main outcome was caries increment measured by the change in decayed, missing and filled tooth surfaces in both permanent (D(M)FS) and primary (d(e/m)fs) teeth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interventions for treating oral mucositis for patients with cancer receiving treatment.
Helen V Worthington,Jan E Clarkson,Gemma Bryan,Susan Furness,Anne-Marie Glenny,Anne Littlewood,Martin G. McCabe,Stefan Meyer,Tasneem Khalid +8 more
TL;DR: There is weak and unreliable evidence that low level laser treatment reduces the severity of the mucositis, and new interventions for treating mucositIS are needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Effectiveness of Sealants in Managing Caries Lesions
Susan O. Griffin,E. Oong,William G. Kohn,Brani Vidakovic,Barbara F. Gooch,James D. Bader,Jan E Clarkson,Margherita Fontana,Daniel M. Meyer,R. G. Rozier,Jane A. Weintraub,Domenick T. Zero +11 more
TL;DR: Sealing non-cavitated caries in permanent teeth is effective in reducing caries progression and sensitivity analysis found the effect to be consistent in size and direction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Water fluoridation for the prevention of dental caries
Zipporah Iheozor-Ejiofor,Helen V Worthington,Tanya Walsh,Lucy O'Malley,Jan E Clarkson,Richard Macey,Rahul Alam,Peter Tugwell,Vivian Welch,Anne-Marie Glenny +9 more
TL;DR: The results from the caries severity data indicate that the initiation of water fluoridation results in reductions in dmft and DMFT compared to the median control group mean values, and the initiated programme results in the proportion caries free between the fluoridated and control groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cochrane Reviews on the Benefits/Risks of Fluoride Toothpastes
Mcm Wong,Jan E Clarkson,Jan E Clarkson,Anne-Marie Glenny,Ecm Lo,Valeria Cc Marinho,Boyd Wk Tsang,Tanya Walsh,Helen V Worthington +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the relative effectiveness of fluoride toothpastes of different concentrations in preventing dental caries in children and adolescents was evaluated using a network meta-analysis utilizing both direct and indirect comparisons from randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
