Journal ArticleDOI

Differentiation of U.S. and European isolates of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus by monoclonal antibodies.

TL;DR: Monoclonal antibodies to two U.S. isolates of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) virus indicate that PRRS viruses contain both conserved and divergent epitopes on the 15-kDa viral protein.
Journal ArticleDOI

A 10-kDa structural protein of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus encoded by ORF2b.

TL;DR: Results suggest that the 2b protein is virion associated and the principal product of ORF2, the major structural proteins of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus: a persistent infection.

TL;DR: Direct evidence of persistent PRRSV infection was shown in experimentally infected pigs by isolation of virus from oropharyngeal samples for up to 157 days after challenge and field observations of long-term herd infection and transmission via purchase of clinically normal, butPRRSV infected, animals were explained.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pathogenesis of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus Infection in Gnotobiotic Pigs

TL;DR: Results of this experiment indicate that PRRSV is a multisystem disease characterized initially by viremia with subsequent virus distribution and replication in multiple organs causing interstitial pneumonia, vasculitis, lymphadenopathy, myocarditis, and encephalitis.
