Factors predicting incidence of post-operative delirium in older people following hip fracture surgery: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
TL;DR: Pre‐ and peri‐operative factors associated with the development of post‐operative delirium following hip fracture surgery are identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Poly-Arginine and Arginine-Rich Peptides are Neuroprotective in Stroke Models:
Bruno P. Meloni,Laura M. Brookes,Vince W. Clark,Jane Cross,Adam B. Edwards,Ryan S. Anderton,Richard Hopkins,Katrin Hoffmann,Neville W. Knuckey +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that poly-arginine and arginine-rich cell-penetrating peptides, are highly neuroProtective, have the capacity to reduce glutamic acid-induced neuronal calcium influx and require heparan sulfate preotoglycan-mediated endocytosis to induce a neuroprotective effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modes of Neuronal Calcium Entry and Homeostasis following Cerebral Ischemia
TL;DR: The aim of this paper is to provide a concise overview of the various calcium influx pathways in response to ischemia and how neuronal cells attempts to overcome this calcium overload.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced rehabilitation and care models for adults with dementia following hip fracture surgery
TL;DR: There was low-quality evidence thatEnhanced care and rehabilitation in hospital led to lower rates of some complications and that enhanced care provided across hospital and home settings reduced the chance of being in institutional care at three months post-discharge.
Journal ArticleDOI
The development, validation and internal consistency of the Norwich Patellar Instability (NPI) score
Toby O. Smith,Simon T. Donell,Simon T. Donell,Allan Clark,Rachel Chester,Jane Cross,Deiary F. Kader,Deiary F. Kader,Elizabeth A. Arendt +8 more
TL;DR: The results indicate the NPI score to be a valid tool to assess patellar instability for individuals following patella dislocation, and high internal consistency is indicated.
