Moderate hypothermia in neonatal encephalopathy: efficacy outcomes.
Dorothea J. Eicher,Carol L. Wagner,Lakshmi P. Katikaneni,Thomas C. Hulsey,W. Thomas Bass,David A. Kaufman,Michael J. Horgan,Sheila Languani,Jatinder Bhatia,Lawrence M. Givelichian,Koravangatta Sankaran,Jerome Y. Yager +11 more
TL;DR: Although these results need to be validated in a large clinical trial, this pilot trial provides important data for clinical trial design of hypothermia treatment in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic injury.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of Soy Protein-Based Formulas in Infant Feeding
Jatinder Bhatia,Frank R. Greer +1 more
TL;DR: The limited indications and contraindications of soy formulas, the potential harmful effects of soy protein-based formulas and the phytoestrogens contained in these formulas are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Innate Immunity of Neonates and Infants.
Jack C. Yu,Hesam Khodadadi,Aneeq Malik,Brea Davidson,Évila Lopes Salles,Jatinder Bhatia,Vanessa L. Hale,Babak Baban +7 more
TL;DR: This review provides an analogy from a national defense perspective by providing the known biological counterparts of all five core operational elements, the five Ds of defense, detection, discrimination, deployment, destruction, and de-escalation, with special focus on innate immunity, maternal support, and influence during the neonatal and infancy periods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Organic Foods: Health and Environmental Advantages and Disadvantages
Joel Forman,Janet H. Silverstein,Jatinder Bhatia,Steven A. Abrams,Mark R. Corkins,Sarah D. de Ferranti,Neville H. Golden,Jerome A. Paulson,Alice Cantwell Brock-Utne,Heather L. Brumberg,Carla Campbell,Bruce P. Lanphear,Kevin C. Osterhoudt,Megan Sandel,Leonardo Trasande,Robert O. Wright +15 more
TL;DR: Current evidence does not support any meaningful nutritional benefits or deficits from eating organic compared with conventionally grown foods, and there are no well-powered human studies that directly demonstrate health benefits or disease protection as a result of consuming an organic diet.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temperature measurement in term and preterm neonates
TL;DR: The temperatures in preterm infants were lower and varied less with the site of measurement, indicating a smaller core-surface temperature gradient because of their relative lack of thermal insulation by body fat.
