Natural and anthropogenic changes in atmospheric CO2 over the last 1000 years from air in Antarctic ice and firn

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of diffusion in the firn on the CO2 mixing ratio and age of the ice core air were determined by analyzing air sampled from the surface down to the bubble close-off depth.
Journal ArticleDOI

Age scale of the air in the summit ice: Implication for glacial-interglacial temperature change

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a dynamic firn densification model to calculate the firn-ice transition depth and the age of the ice at this depth and an air diffusion model to determine the air at the transition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atmospheric trends and radiative forcings of CF4 and C2F6 inferred from firn air.

TL;DR: The reconstructed atmospheric trends show that the mixing ratios of both CF4 and C2F6 have increased during the 20th century by factors of approximately 2 and approximately 10, respectively, and, if the current trends continue, they will continue to increase since both gases have essentially infinite lifetimes.
