The Wireless sensor network play a vital role in collecting a Real – Time data, monitoring environmental conditions based on technology adoption. These sensor network is the combination of sensing, computation, and communication through a single tiny device. Here many tiny nodes assemble and configure themselves. It also controls actuators that extend control from cyberspace into the physical world. Here the sensor nodes communicate with the local peers rather than the high – power control tower or base station. Instead, of relying on a predeployed infrastructure, each individual sensor or actuator become part of the overall infrastructure. Here we have three hardware platforms that addresses the needs of wireless sensor netwoks. The operating system here uses an event based execution to support concurrency. The platform serves as a baseline and does not contain any hardware accelerators. . First platform serves as a baseline and it produces Operating system concepts for refining concurrency mechanisms. The second node validates the architectural designs and improve the communicational rates. The third node represents the full realization of the general architecture. A Wireless Sensor Network.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) is one of the interesting issues in the information technology domain. It is used in various fields such as medicine, agriculture, meteorology, etc. that eases lots of difficult tasks to do but have some challenges too. Deployment is the greatest challenge in WSN that affects other features like coverage, connectivity, energy efficient and lifetime. Despite the importance of the deployment problem in WSN, to the best of our knowledge, there isn't any systematic literature review to give us systematical analyses the state-of-the mechanisms in this field. Therefore, this study reviewed the deployment mechanisms which have been used in WSN systematically. The deployment mechanisms can be classified into two main categories: deterministic and nondeterministic. Also, this study represents a comparison of the important techniques of the selected articles in each category to offer a guideline for further studies and new challenges. We also have noted some open issues for future research.

Routing protocol design for secure WSN: Review and open research issues

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are one of the key enabling technologies for the internet of things (IoT). WSNs play a major role in data communications in applications such as home, health care, environmental monitoring, smart grids, and transportation. WSNs are used in IoT applications and should be secured and energy efficient in order to provide highly reliable data communications. Because of the constraints of energy, memory and computational power of the WSN nodes, clustering algorithms are considered as energy efficient approaches for resource-constrained WSNs. In this paper, we present a survey of the state-of-the-art routing techniques in WSNs. We first present the most relevant previous work in routing protocols surveys then highlight our contribution. Next, we outline the background, robustness criteria, and constraints of WSNs. This is followed by a survey of different WSN routing techniques. Routing techniques are generally classified as flat, hierarchical, and location-based routing. This survey focuses on the deep analysis of WSN hierarchical routing protocols. We further classify hierarchical protocols based on their routing techniques. We carefully choose the most relevant state-of-the-art protocols in order to compare and highlight the advantages, disadvantage and performance issues of each routing technique. Finally, we conclude this survey by presenting a comprehensive survey of the recent improvements of low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy routing protocols and a comparison of the different versions presented in the literature.

Hierarchical routing protocols for wireless sensor network: a compressive survey

With the widespread applications of Internet of Things (IoT), the emergency response performance for large-scale network packets is facing serious challenge, especially for renewable distributed energy resources monitoring in a smart grid. Therefore, how to improve the real-time performance of the emergency data packets has been a critical issue. Traditional packet scheduling schemes and topology optimization strategies are not suitable for a large-scale IoT-based smart grid. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new packet scheduling scheme named LOES, which first combines the priority-based packet scheduling scheme with local optimization. We exchange local geographic information to reduce the hop counts and distance between distributed source nodes and sink nodes. Each destination node determines the packet scheduling sequence according to the received emergency information. Finally, we compare LOES with first come first serve, multilevel scheme, and dynamic multilevel priority packet scheduling scheme using packet loss rate, packet waiting time, and average packet end-to-end delay as metrics. The simulation results show that LOES outperforms these previous scheduling schemes.

A Local-Optimization Emergency Scheduling Scheme With Self-Recovery for a Smart Grid

Wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of tiny sensor nodes with sensing, computation and wireless communication capabilities. Now a days, it is finding wide applicability and increasing deployment, as it enables reliable monitoring and analysis of environment. The design of routing protocols for WSN is influenced by many challenging factors like fault tolerance, energy efficiency, scalability, latency, power consumption and network topology. In this paper, we mainly focus on minimizing end to end latency and energy efficiency as primary design objectives of routing protocols for WSN without overshadowing the other design factors. We present a survey of low latency, energy efficient and time critical routing protocols. TEEN (Threshold - sensitive Energy Efficient sensor Network protocol), a reactive network protocol which is well suited for time critical data sensing applications is quite efficient in terms of energy consumption and response time. APTEEN (Adaptive Periodic Threshold - sensitive Energy Efficient sensor Network protocol), a hybrid network protocol which gives the overall picture of the network at periodic intervals in a very energy efficient manner. SPEED is a Stateless, highly efficient and scalable protocol for sensor networks which achieves end to end soft real time communication by maintaining a desired delivery speed across the network through a novel combination of feedback control and non deterministic geographic forwarding. RAP, a real - time communication architecture for large scale sensor networks which significantly reduces the end to end latency by using Velocity - Monotonic Scheduling (VMS). RPAR, Real - Time Power Aware Routing Protocol which supports energy efficient real - time communication by dynamically adapting transmission power and routing decisions. We also discuss the advantages and performance issues of each routing protocol.

Low latency and energy efficient routing protocols for wireless sensor networks

In wireless sensor network (WSN), position awareness (localization) of the sensor nodes is necessary to exploit the communication and to provide the meaningful information about their surroundings. Here Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) technique is used as it requires no extra hardware and can be used for both indoor and outdoor environment. RSSI is having limitations such as high randomness due to fading and shadowing. This makes difficulties in establishing exact relationship between RSSI value and distance. In this paper we propose the method of creating database by using Split Range Technique (SRT) to estimate the approximate distance between two nodes. Using this database, position estimation has been done. For this Adaptive n-Triangle algorithm is implemented. Present results of RSSI shows the approximate positioning of the sensor node with the error estimation of about 5–10%. The experiment can be extended to show the predicted path of a moving object which is being identified by sensors.

Experimental analysis of RSSI for distance and position estimation

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) supports different kinds of applications in distinct areas, such as military, health care, agriculture, home or industry automation and others. Generally, there are three models of WSN: continuous, on-demand and event-driven. In continuous model, sensors send data periodically to the sink. In on-demand model, sensors sense continuously, store the data and sends only when requested. In event driven model the sensors send data only when certain events occur. In this paper we have presented the implementation details of WSN based temperature monitoring application. The main feature of our network is to continuously monitor the temperature in the 128 node High Performance Computing Cluster for its smooth functioning. The wireless sensor node senses and transmits the current value of temperature to the base station. This paper explains about the various steps involved in the experimental implementation and maintenance of the temperature monitoring network for High Performance Computing cluster at Computer centre, IGCAR. The performance analysis of the network is also discussed.

Wireless sensor networks can be termed as a new generation of distributed embedded systems that has a capability of meeting broad range of real-time applications. Examples include radiation monitoring, fire monitoring, border surveillance, and medical care to name but a few. Wireless sensor networks that are deployed in time/mission-critical applications with highly dynamic environments have to interact with the physical phenomenon under stringent timing constraints and severe resource limitations. For such real-time wireless sensor networks, designing and developing a real-time routing protocol that meets the required real-time guarantee of data packets communication is a stimulating field of study that raised many challenges and research issues. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey of real-time routing protocols in WSN, by discussing each protocol with its key features. Finally, we concluded this paper with open research issues and challenges of real-time routing in WSN.
