Journal ArticleDOI

Lorentz contraction, Bell’s spaceships and rigid body motion in special relativity

TL;DR: The meaning of Lorentz contraction in special relativity and its connection with Bell's spaceships parable is discussed in this paper, where the motion of Bell's spacehips is compared with the accelerated motion of a rigid body.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wave Function Mixing of Flavor Degenerate Baryons

TL;DR: In this paper, the symmetry of the wave functions of two baryons in terms of a quark-ordering principle and a mixing angle is discussed, and the effect of mixing on the baryon masses is explored.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mixing of Xi(c) - Xi(c)-prime baryons

Jerrold Franklin
- 01 Jan 1997 -
TL;DR: The mixing angle between the {Xi}{sub c} and {Xi {sub c}{sup {prime}} baryons is shown to be small in quark model calculations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phenomenological quark model for baryon magnetic moments and beta decay ratios (GA/GV)

TL;DR: In this article, a phenomenological quark model was proposed to predict an antiquark content for the proton that is consistent with the Gottfried sum rule, and good agreement with experiment was found for a combined fit to all measured baryon magnetic moments and beta decay ratios.
