Journal ArticleDOI

Electronic Structure and Molecular Conformation in the Excited Charge Transfer Singlet States of 9-Acridyl and Other Aryl Derivatives of Aromatic Amines

TL;DR: In this article, a band-shape analysis of the CT absorption and emission spectra leads to the quantities relevant for the electron transfer in the Marcus inverted region, where the electronic transition dipole moments corresponding to the 1CT ← S0 absorption and the radiative charge recombination 1CT → S0 (Mabs and Mflu, respectively) made possible the estimation at the electronic coupling elements V0 and V1 between the 1 CT state and the ground state S0 or the locally excited 1LE state lying most closely in energy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intramolecular Radiative and Radiationless Charge Recombination Processes in Donor−Acceptor Carbazole Derivatives

TL;DR: In this article, photoinduced intramolecular charge transfer in a series of N-bonded donor-acceptor derivatives of 3,6-di-tert-butylcarbazole containing benzonitrile, nicotinonitrile or various dicyanobenzenes as an electron acceptor has been studied in solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solvent-Controlled Excited State Behavior: 2-(2‘-Pyridyl)indoles in Alcohols

TL;DR: In this article, an efficient fluorescence quenching caused by rapid internal conversion from the first excited singlet state is observed in alcohol solutions of 2-(2‘-pyridyl)indoles, molecules which may simultaneously act as hydrogen bonding donors and acceptors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Radiative and radiationless depopulation of the excited intramolecular charge transfer states : aryl derivatives of aromatic amines

TL;DR: In this paper, photo-induced electron transfer in a series of aryl derivatives of aromatic amines has been studied in solutions and the intramolecular charge transfer (CT) leads to a large Stokes shift and large dipole moment in the fluorescent state.
Journal ArticleDOI

Excited charge transfer states in 4-aminopyrimidines, 4-(dimethylanilino)pyrimidine and 4-(dimethylamino)pyridne

TL;DR: In this article, the photoinduced electron transfer in a series of donor-acceptor compounds and their hydrogen-bonded complexes in solution is compared, and the results of steady-state and kinetic investigations as well as quantum chemical calculations of I-III fit well into the twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT) state model.
