Colistin-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii: Beyond Carbapenem Resistance
Zubair A. Qureshi,Lauren E. Hittle,Jessica A. O'Hara,Jesabel I. Rivera,Alveena Syed,Ryan K. Shields,Anthony W. Pasculle,Robert K. Ernst,Yohei Doi +8 more
TL;DR: Colistin-resistant A. baumannii occurred almost exclusively among patients who had received CMS for treatment of carbapenem-resistant, colist in-susceptible, and -resistant isolates, suggesting evolution of resistance during CMS therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Coproduction of 16S rRNA Methyltransferase RmtD or RmtG with KPC-2 and CTX-M Group Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamases in Klebsiella pneumoniae
Maria Fernanda Campagnari Bueno,Gabriela R. Francisco,Gabriela R. Francisco,Jessica A. O'Hara,Doroti de Oliveira Garcia,Yohei Doi +5 more
TL;DR: Eight Klebsiella pneumoniae clinical strains with high-level aminoglycoside resistance were collected from eight hospitals in São Paulo State, Brazil, in 2010 and 2011 and five strains were found to produce a novel 16S rRNA methyltransferase, designated RmtG, which shared 57 to 58% amino acid identity with RmtD1 and Rmtd2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Activities of Vancomycin-Containing Regimens against Colistin-Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii Clinical Strains
Jessica A. O'Hara,Lauretta A. Ambe,Leila G. Casella,Bethany M. Townsend,Mark R. Pelletier,Robert K. Ernst,Robert M. Q. Shanks,Yohei Doi +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that regimens containing vancomycin may confer therapeutic benefit for infection due to colistin-resistant A. baumannii.
Journal ArticleDOI
Co-production of NDM-1 and OXA-232 by Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Yohei Doi,Jessica A. O'Hara,James Lando,Ashley Querry,Bethany M. Townsend,Anthony W. Pasculle,Carlene A. Muto +6 more
TL;DR: Isolates producing NDM-1 were first reported in the United States in 2010, followed by several case reports and most recently a hospital outbreak in Colorado (3–6), and as for OXA-48-group β-lactamase, 2 cases of infection with OXa-48–producing K. pneumoniae were recently reported from Virginia (7).
Journal ArticleDOI
Aerosolization of Acinetobacter baumannii in a Trauma ICU
L. Silvia Munoz-Price,Yovanit Fajardo-Aquino,Kristopher L. Arheart,Timothy Cleary,Dennise Depascale,Louis R. Pizano,Nicholas Namias,Jesabel I. Rivera,Jessica A. O'Hara,Yohei Doi +9 more
TL;DR: Air and clinical isolates were found to be clonally related anderosolization of A. baumannii in the ICUs is a concern, and its role in the transmission of this organism among patients should be further clarified.
