Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of the physical and biological properties of hyaluronan and hyaluronan fragments.
TL;DR: Observations demonstrate that low molecular weight HA fragments would be best suited for the delivery of proteins and peptides with applications in chronic wound healing and paves the way for the rationalized development of novel HA conjugates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dextrin-colistin conjugates as a model bioresponsive treatment for multidrug resistant bacterial infections
TL;DR: The potential utility of "nanoantibiotic" polymer therapeutics to aid the safe, effective, and targeted delivery of colistin in the management of MDR infections is highlighted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fracture in the Elderly Multidisciplinary Rehabilitation (FEMuR): A phase II randomised feasibility study of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation package following hip fracture
Nefyn Williams,Jessica L Roberts,Nafees Ud Din,Nicola Totton,Joanna M Charles,Claire Hawkes,Val Morrison,Zoe Hoare,Michelle Williams,Aaron W Pritchard,Swapna Alexander,Andrew B. Lemmey,Robert T. Woods,Catherine Sackley,Pip Logan,Rhiannon Tudor Edwards,Clare Wilkinson +16 more
TL;DR: The intervention group showed a medium-sized improvement in the NEADL relative to the control group, and a trend for greater improvement in self-efficacy and mental health, but with small effect sizes, and the mean cost of delivering the intervention was £231 per patient.
Journal ArticleDOI
An in vitro study of alginate oligomer therapies on oral biofilms
Jessica L Roberts,Saira Khan,Charlotte Emanuel,Lydia C. Powell,Lydia C. Powell,Manon F. Pritchard,Manon F. Pritchard,Edvar Onsoyen,Rolf Myrvold,David Thomas,Katja E. Hill +10 more
TL;DR: The potentiation of antimicrobial agents by naturally occurring oligomers such as OligoG may represent a novel, safe adjunct to conventional oral hygiene and periodontal therapy and the use of lower concentrations of triclosan, if used in combination therapy with OligOG, could have environmental benefits.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Novel Ex vivo Culture Model for Inflammatory Bone Destruction
Alastair James Sloan,Sarah Taylor,Emma Smith,Emma Smith,Jessica L Roberts,L. Chen,Xiao-Qing Wei,Rachel J. Waddington +7 more
TL;DR: Bone metabolism can be induced via exposure to LPS and direct influence of TNFα within the model despite the absence of systemic circulation, providing a model for inflammatory bone destruction and investigation of the effects of novel therapeutics.
