Global Pattern of Microplastics (MPs) in Commercial Food-Grade Salts: Sea Salt as an Indicator of Seawater MP Pollution.

TL;DR: The results indicate that not only is Asia a hot spot of global plastic pollution, as previous studies have suggested, but also that sea salt can be a good indicator of the magnitude of MP pollution in the surrounding marine environment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Abundance and characteristics of microplastics in soils with different agricultural practices: Importance of sources with internal origin and environmental fate.

TL;DR: The results suggest the importance of internal sources and environmental fate as significant factors affecting the occurrence of MPs in agricultural soils.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variation and Uncertainty of Microplastics in Commercial Table Salts: Critical Review and Validation

TL;DR: This literature review for table salt addressed the variability and uncertainty of MP data caused by different analytical methods among studies, and showed that adults intake up to 19000 MPs ≥10 μm annually via table salt, compared with 5100 MPs that was estimated from uncorrected mean abundance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Importance of seasonal sea ice in the western Arctic ocean to the Arctic and global microplastic budgets

TL;DR: It is highlighted that WAO ice zone may play a role as a sink of global MPs as well as a source of Arctic MPs in sea ice, snow and melt pond water from the western Arctic Ocean.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Ethanol Extract from Whole Onion (Allium cepa L.) with Leaves

TL;DR: In this paper , the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of whole onion were investigated in RAW 264.7 macrophages treated with LPS by analyzing cytokine levels and expressions using ELISA kits and RT-PCR assays, respectively.
