Fabrication and crushing behavior of low density carbon fiber composite pyramidal truss structures

TL;DR: In this article, a new method for fabricating carbon fiber composite pyramidal truss cores was developed based on the molding hot-press technique, where all the continuous fibers of composite are aligned in the direction of struts and thus, the truss structure can fully exploit the intrinsic strength of the fiber reinforced composite.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shear and bending performance of carbon fiber composite sandwich panels with pyramidal truss cores

TL;DR: In this paper, the structural performance of sandwich panels with a carbon fiber pyramidal truss core was investigated for direct (pure) shear and three-point bending in the presence of different failure modes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Advanced Micro-Lattice Materials

TL;DR: A review of recent progress in the development of advanced Micro-lattice materials can be found in this article, where the authors reviewed recent progress of such advanced materials in the fields of ultra-lightweight structures, thermal equipment, electrochemical devices, high absorption capacity and bio-repair materials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Low velocity impact of carbon fiber aluminum laminates

TL;DR: In this paper, the applicability of carbon fiber in FMLs and the effect of the properties of aluminum alloy on the low velocity impact response of CARALL were investigated using a user-defined material subroutine (VUMAT) to define Hashin's 3D damage constitutive model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Vibration and damping characteristics of hybrid carbon fiber composite pyramidal truss sandwich panels with viscoelastic layers

TL;DR: In this paper, the vibration and damping performances of hybrid carbon fiber composite pyramidal truss sandwich panels with viscoelastic layers embedded in the face sheets were investigated. And the numerical simulation results showed good agreement with the experimental tests.
