The effect of morphological imperfections on damage in 3D FE analysis of open-cell metal foam core sandwich panels

TL;DR: In this paper, a 3D model of an open-cell aluminium alloy metal foam core sandwich panel subject to uniform compression has been created to study the effect of varying the foam strut aspect ratio on the elastic properties of the core.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of initial temper on mechanical properties of creep-aged Al-Cu-Li alloy AA2050

TL;DR: In this article, the evolution of mechanical properties of a third generation Al-Cu-Li alloy, AA2050, with different initial tempers (T34 and as-quenched (WQ)) during creepageing has been investigated and analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI

An experimental investigation for macro-textured tool in hot stamping

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of increasing drawability of materials in hot stamping processes using forming tools with macro-scale textures on the tool surfaces was presented. But the results showed that a more uniform thickness distribution and improved drawability was found using the blankholders with surface textures, which is believed to be caused by the lower temperature loss derived from the smaller contact area.
Journal ArticleDOI

An investigation of damage healing in high temperature compressive forming process

TL;DR: In this article, a UMAT subroutine incorporating damage healing models has been used to model the void closure process and predict the subsequent healing time for a porous free cutting steel during a hot flat rolling process.
