TL;DR: The main goal of this work is to summarize sensing requirements of both short- and long-range automotive radars and to highlight present challenges to both systems.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Next generation short range radar (SRR) for automotive applications
TL;DR: The unique requirements of automotive active safety systems which drive the challenging specifications of next-generation automotive short range radar sensors are discussed, along with possible paths towards achieving future performance metrics.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Transformational Autonomy and Personal Transportation: Synergies and Differences Between Cars and Planes
TL;DR: It is predicted that the mission management and perception requirements of self-piloting aircraft differ significantly from self-driving cars and requires the development of aviation specific technologies, and the highly-reliable control and system automation technology developed for conditionally and highly automated cars can have a significant beneficial effect on personal aviation, even if full automation is not immediately feasible.
