Elasticity study on lattice instability in BiSrCaCuO

TL;DR: In this paper, the frequency dependences of heights and positions of attenuation peaks at 95k and 250k for Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 single crystal (Tc=84K) and show the characters of phase transitions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elastic constants and observation of significant elastic softening in superconducting Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 single crystals.

TL;DR: The in-plane shear mode C' shows an overall trend of softening over a wide temperature range (200--100 K), consistent with the local-atomic-displacements model proposed from pulsed-neutron-scattering results.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural instability in high-T c superconducting oxides

TL;DR: In this paper, a phase-like transition (PLT) was confirmed by stress-strain, specific heat and Debye-Waller factor measurements in YBCO, BSCCO and TBCCO.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultrasonic study of structural instability of monocrystalline and polycrystalline Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O

TL;DR: Two internal-friction peaks around 95 and 130 K in the polycrystal and single crystal of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O are found to be related to the superconducting transition at 84 and 107 K, respectively, and the jump of lattice parameter and shape-memory effect occurring at the peak temperatures reveal the characteristics of a martensitic transition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elastic-anisotropy and lattice instability in bi2sr2ca1cu2o8 single-crystal

TL;DR: In this paper, the velocity and attenuation versus temperature of ultrasonic longitudinal waves propagating along two directions in the a-b plane at 10° to the a and b axes were measured for a Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 1 Cu 2 O 8 single crystal.
