Origami-inspired self-deployment 4D printed honeycomb sandwich structure with large shape transformation

TL;DR: In this paper, honeycomb sandwich structures were designed to improve the stiffness and recovery force of origami structures, and the shape fixity and shape recovery ratio of the active sandwich structures are 98% and 99%, indicating excellent shape memory performance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Constitutive model for a stress- and thermal-induced phase transition in a shape memory polymer

TL;DR: In this paper, a new type of model was developed to characterize the variation of the volume fraction in a shape memory polymer during the phase transition, and the applied stress was also taken as a significant influence factor on the shape memory effect.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carboxyl-Terminated Polybutadiene–Poly(styrene-co-4-vinylpyridine) Supramolecular Thermoplastic Elastomers and Their Shape Memory Behavior

TL;DR: In this article, a simple metal coordination complex was designed for an easy-processing metallo-supramolecular polymer which possesses the shape memory property and large deformation ability, and the mixture of zinc-neutralized carboxyl-terminated polybutadiene and poly(styrene-co-4-vinylpyridine) (PSVP).
Journal ArticleDOI

Behaviour of continuous fibre composite sandwich core under low-velocity impact

TL;DR: In this article, an experimental study of the impact behavior of composite corrugated core sandwich structure under low-velocity impact was conducted. And the impact events were monitored using a high-speed camera and measured by an impact force transducer and accelerometer attached to the impactor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Design and analysis of smart release devices based on shape memory polymer composites

TL;DR: In this paper, a shape memory polymer composite cylinder (thin-walled tube) was designed based on three different deformation ways of the cylinder, and the deformation models were analyzed to verify the feasibility of the smart release devices.
