Journal ArticleDOI
Biocompatible ionic liquids: fundamental behaviours and applications
TL;DR: Progress and strategies towards the synthesis of Bio-ILs are reviewed and the impact of using these compounds in a diverse range of applications is discussed, with some insights toward their use in the development of improved technologies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and their derivatives (oxygenated-PAHs, nitrated-PAHs and azaarenes) in size-fractionated particles emitted in an urban road tunnel
TL;DR: In this article, a sampling campaign of size segregated particulate matter (PM0.5, PM0.1, PM1-2) was carried out at two sites, one in a road tunnel (Braga, Portugal) and another at an urban background location in the neighbourhood.
Journal ArticleDOI
Size-segregated particulate matter and gaseous emissions from motor vehicles in a road tunnel
Célia Alves,Joana Gomes,Teresa Nunes,Márcio Duarte,Ana I. Calvo,Danilo Custódio,Casimiro Pio,Angeliki Karanasiou,Xavier Querol +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a sampling campaign was carried out for one week in the Liberdade Avenue tunnel (Braga, Portugal), where the monitoring of gaseous pollutants (CO 2, CO, NO x ) and suspended particulate matter (PM) at two sites, one in the tunnel and another in an urban background location.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunomodulatory effect of human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal/stem cells on peripheral blood T cells from rheumatoid arthritis patients.
Monia Pedrosa,Joana Gomes,Paula Laranjeira,Cátia Duarte,Susana Pedreiro,Brígida Antunes,Tânia Ribeiro,Francisco dos Santos,António Martinho,Margarida Fardilha,M. Rosário M. Domingues,Manuel Abecasis,José António Pereira da Silva,Artur Paiva +13 more
TL;DR: BM‐MSCs displayed a striking inhibitory action over T cells from RA patients, reducing the expression of cytokines involved in RA physiopathology and affected either naive, effector, and memory T cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Alternative probe for the determination of the hydrogen-bond acidity of ionic liquids and their aqueous solutions
TL;DR: The applicability of the pyridine-N-oxide probe to determine the hydrogen-bond acidity of both neat ionic liquids and their aqueous solutions, based on 13C NMR chemical shifts, and the suitability of these values to appraise the ability of ionsic liquids to form aqueously two-phase systems are demonstrated.
