Mechanical behaviour of non-structural concrete made with recycled ceramic aggregates

TL;DR: In this article, the main characteristics of such aggregates as well as those of the fresh and hardened concrete made with them are presented and compared with those of conventional materials (primary stone aggregates and the concretes made exclusively with them), within a larger experimental investigation to maximize the reuse and reutilization of construction and demolition waste.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects on concrete durability of using recycled ceramic aggregates

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of water absorption tests, either by capillarity or by immersion, and results of the abrasion resistance tests are presented, all related to long-term concrete durability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Post-fire residual mechanical properties of concrete made with recycled concrete coarse aggregates

TL;DR: In this paper, the residual mechanical performance of concrete produced with recycled coarse aggregates, after being subjected to high temperatures, was investigated. But the results showed that there were no significant differences in the thermal response and post-fire mechanical behaviour of concrete made with recycled concrete coarse aggregate, compared to conventional concrete.
Journal ArticleDOI

Building envelope shape design in early stages of the design process: Integrating architectural design systems and energy simulation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a methodology to assist design decisions regarding the building envelope shape considering its implications on energy performance, which involves a flexible design system to generate alternative envelope shape designs, with integrated energy simulation, to calculate the energy demand of each design.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recycling of FRP composites: reusing fine GFRP waste in concrete mixtures

TL;DR: In this paper, a state-of-the-art review of the present alternatives available to manage FRP waste is presented, and an experimental study conducted on the technical feasibility of incorporating the fine waste generated during the manufacturing of glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) composites in concrete mixtures.
