Aberrant activation of the PI3K/mTOR pathway promotes resistance to sorafenib in AML
Oscar Lindblad,Eugenia Cordero,Alexandre Puissant,Lucy Macaulay,Azucena Ramos,Nuzhat N. Kabir,Jianmin Sun,Johan Vallon-Christersson,Karin Haraldsson,Michael T. Hemann,Åke Borg,Fredrik Levander,Kimberly Stegmaier,Kristian Pietras,Lars Rönnstrand,Julhash U. Kazi +15 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that aberrant activation of the PI3K/mTOR pathway in FLT3-ITD-dependent AML results in resistance to drugs targetingFLT3.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tasquinimod (ABR-215050), a quinoline-3-carboxamide anti-angiogenic agent, modulates the expression of thrombospondin-1 in human prostate tumors
TL;DR: Tasquinimod-induced up-regulation of TSP1 is part of a mechanism involving down- regulation of HIF1α and VEGF, which in turn leads to reduced angiogenesis via inhibition of the "angiogenic switch", that could explain tasquinIMods therapeutic potential.
Journal ArticleDOI
Staf50 is a novel p53 target gene conferring reduced clonogenic growth of leukemic U-937 cells.
Susanna Obad,Hans Brunnström,Johan Vallon-Christersson,Åke Borg,Kristina Drott,Urban Gullberg +5 more
TL;DR: It is reported that transcription of the Staf50 (stimulated transacting factor of 50 kDa) gene is upregulated in response to wild-type p53 in U-937-4, K562 and MCF-7 cells, suggesting that Staf 50 could be involved in proliferation and/or differentiation of leukemic cells.
quinoline-3-carboxamide anti-angiogenic agent, modulates the expression of thrombospondin-1 in human prostate tumors
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the effect of tasquinimod-induced up-regulation of thrombospondin-1 (TSP1) mRNA in LNCaP prostate tumor cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Normalization of array-CGH data: influence of copy number imbalances.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that copy number imbalances correlate with intensity in array-CGH data thereby causing problems for conventional normalization methods, and a strategy to circumvent these problems is proposed by taking copy number Imbalances into account during normalization.
