Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of a novel breast carcinoma xenograft and cell line derived from a BRCA1 germ-line mutation carrier.
Oskar T. Johannsson,Synnöve Staff,Johan Vallon-Christersson,Soili Kytölä,Thorarinn Gudjonsson,Karin Rennstam,Ingrid Hedenfalk,Adewale Adeyinka,Elisabeth Kjellén,Johan Wennerberg,Bo Baldetorp,Ole W. Petersen,Håkan Olsson,Stina Oredsson,Jorma Isola,Åke Borg +15 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that L56Br-X1 and L56 Br-C1 are useful model systems for studies of the pathogenesis and new therapeutic modalities of BRCA1-induced human breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterisation of amplification patterns and target genes at chromosome 11q13 in CCND1-amplified sporadic and familial breast tumours.
Karolina Holm,Johan Staaf,Göran Jönsson,Johan Vallon-Christersson,Haukur Gunnarsson,Adalgeir Arason,Linda Magnusson,Rosa B. Barkardottir,Cecilia Hegardt,Markus Ringnér,Åke Borg +10 more
TL;DR: It is found that CCND1 amplification is associated with a more aggressive phenotype within histological grade 2 tumours and luminal A subtype tumours, and is concluded that 11q13 includes many potential target genes in addition to CC ND1.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Retinoblastoma Gene Undergoes Rearrangements in BRCA1-Deficient Basal-like Breast Cancer
Göran Jönsson,Johan Staaf,Johan Vallon-Christersson,Markus Ringnér,Sofia K. Gruvberger-Saal,Lao H. Saal,Karolina Holm,Cecilia Hegardt,Adalgeir Arason,Rainer Fagerholm,Camilla Persson,Dorthe Grabau,Ellinor Johnsson,Kristina Lövgren,Linda Magnusson,Päivi Heikkilä,Bjarni A. Agnarsson,Oskar T. Johannsson,Per-Uno Malmström,Mårten Fernö,Håkan Olsson,Niklas Loman,Heli Nevanlinna,Rosa B. Barkardottir,Åke Borg +24 more
TL;DR: Gene expression profiling to molecularly subtype 577 breast tumors shows the existence of genetic heterogeneity within the basal-like breast cancer subtype that is based upon BRCA1 status and identifies RB1 as a major target for genomic disruption.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comprehensive molecular comparison of BRCA1 hypermethylated and BRCA1 mutated triple negative breast cancers
Dominik Glodzik,Dominik Glodzik,Dominik Glodzik,Ana Bosch,Johan Hartman,Mattias Aine,Johan Vallon-Christersson,Christel Reuterswärd,Anna Karlsson,Shamik Mitra,Emma Niméus,Karolina Holm,Jari Häkkinen,Cecilia Hegardt,Lao H. Saal,Christer Larsson,Martin Malmberg,Lisa Rydén,Anna Ehinger,Niklas Loman,Anders Kvist,Hans Ehrencrona,Serena Nik-Zainal,Åke Borg,Johan Staaf +24 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that hypermethylated BRCA1 phenotypically copies mutated BRCa1 in triple negative breast cancers have similarly improved prognosis after adjuvant chemotherapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
High expression of ZNF703 independent of amplification indicates worse prognosis in patients with luminal B breast cancer
Inga Reynisdottir,Adalgeir Arason,Berglind Osk Einarsdottir,Haukur Gunnarsson,Johan Staaf,Johan Vallon-Christersson,Göran Jönsson,Markus Ringnér,Bjarni A. Agnarsson,Kristrun Olafsdottir,Rainer Fagerholm,Thorbjorg Einarsdottir,Gudrun Johannesdottir,Oskar Thor Johannsson,Heli Nevanlinna,Åke Borg,Rosa B. Barkardottir +16 more
TL;DR: The results support ZNF703 as the driver gene of the 8p12 amplification and suggest that independent of amplification, high expression of the gene affects prognosis in luminal B tumors.
