A comparison of the catalytic and structural properties of heteropoly compounds: semi-empirical calculations

TL;DR: In this article, semi-empirical extended Huckel calculations have been performed on simulated anions of heteropoly compounds and the results when compared with experimental information show that the activity of these compounds in acid-catalyzed processes is inversely related to the net atomic charges on the outer oxygen atoms, while the activity in oxidation reactions correlates inversely with the partitioned energy of the bond between the inner oxygen atom and the peripheral metal atom to which it is coordinated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Implicit and explicit microporosity in heteropoly oxometalates

TL;DR: In this paper, nonporous heteropoly oxometalates are shown to be capable of absorbing polar molecules into their bulk structures while retaining their properties as solids, and the results from photoacoustic FTIR, X-ray diffraction and sorption measurements are employed to illustrate this feature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of sorbed intermediates and implications for the mechanism of chain growth in the conversion of methanol and ethanol to hydrocarbons over 12-tungstophosphoric acid using infrared photoacoustic spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this article, photoacoustic Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (PAS-FTIR) was used to study the conversion of C1-C4 alcohols to hydrocarbons over 12-tungstophosphoric acid, H3PW12O40.
Journal ArticleDOI

The catalysis of methanol and ethanol conversions on molybdenum and tungsten heteropoly compounds

TL;DR: The alkylammonium and ammonium 12-heteropolyates of general formula A3XM12O40, where A is the monovalent ammonium cation, X is the central or heteropoly ion (P5+ or As5+), and M is the metal cation (Mo6+ or W6+), have been studied in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cation effects on the surface and bulk structure of the salts of 12-tungstosilicic acid

TL;DR: In this paper, a number of monovalent salts of 12-tungstosilicic acid (H4SiW12O40) have been prepared and characterized by nitrogen adsorption isotherms with pore size analyses, mercury porosimetry, and X-ray powder diffractometry.
