Functional comparison of plant inward-rectifier channels expressed in yeast

The S. cerevisiae outwardly-rectifying potassium channel (DUK1) identifies a new family of channels with duplicated pore domains.
TL;DR: Additional sequences with the duplicate pore motif were found in C. elegans, suggesting that these proteins represent a novel structural family of potassium channel proteins.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that parkin suppresses toxicity induced by mutant (A53T) and wt alphaS, and the appearance of higher molecular weight alphaS-immunoreactive bands by Western blot analysis, consistent with a protective role for parkin.
