Journal ArticleDOI

Moderate Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in Male Mice Lacking the Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide Gene

TL;DR: Deletion of the VIP gene leads to spontaneous expression of moderately severe PAH in mice during air breathing, and the VIP−/− mouse should be useful for studying molecular mechanisms of PAH and evaluating potential therapeutic agents.
Journal ArticleDOI

New-onset asthma among soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

TL;DR: Whether new asthma is diagnosed more frequently among Iraq/Afghanistan War troops versus stateside-based troops is determined and associations between deployment and asthma statuses persist when stratified by gender and age group.
Journal Article

TL;DR: Investigation of racial/ethnic differences in RIs of common biochemical and hematological laboratory tests using the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2011-2012 data indicates that racial/ ethnic subpopulations have unique distributions in the labortoary tests and race/ethnicity may need to be incorporated in the development of their RIs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mice lacking the VIP gene show airway hyperresponsiveness and airway inflammation, partially reversible by VIP

TL;DR: It is reported here that mice with targeted deletion of the VIP gene spontaneously exhibit airway hyperresponsiveness to the cholinergic agonist methacholine as well as peribronchiolar and perivascular cellular infiltrates and increased levels of inflammatory cytokines in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid.
Journal ArticleDOI

A provider intervention to improve colorectal cancer screening in county health centers.

TL;DR: Provider referrals/dispensing/completion of CRC screening within health centers was significantly improved and barriers reduced through a provider intervention combining continuing medical education with a team building strategic planning exercise.
