XPS-AES characterization of plutonium oxides and oxide carbide. The existence of plutonium monoxide
D. T. Larson,John M. Haschke +1 more
TL;DR: The plutonium-oxygen phase diagrams have been clarified by XPS and AES results which show that three oxygen-containing plutonium phases, PuO/sub 2/,..cap alpha..-Pu/sub 3/, and Pu/sub x/C/sub y/, are successively formed when oxide-coated plutonium metal is heated in vacuo to 500/sup 0/C. The Pu(4f/sub 7/2/) binding energies are consistent with the observed formation and oxidation reactions as mentioned in this paper.

The preparation and some properties of europium bromides and hydrated bromides.
John M. Haschke,Harry A. Eick +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, anhydrous europium tribomide hexahydrate-ammonium bromide matrix and single crystals were grown by vapor transport techniques, and powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction data indicate tetragonal symmetry for EuBr2 (a = 11·574±0·006, c = 7·098± 0·005 A ) and orthorhombic symmetry for EuropiumBr3 (a.
