Proceedings ArticleDOI
Assessment of Treatment Response in Granulomatous Lymphocytic Interstitial Lung Disease (GLILD)
TL;DR: Hurst et al. as discussed by the authors assessed initial PFT responses to steroids, regarding the magnitude of change in spirometry and gas transfer to inform which parameters were affected most, and found that the greatest initial changes are observed in spiralometry than gas transfer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characteristics and risk factors for post-COVID-19 breathlessness after hospitalisation for COVID-19
Luke Daines,Bang Zheng,Omer Elneima,Ewen M Harrison,Nazir I Lone,John R. Hurst,Jeremy S. Brown,Elizabeth Sapey,James D. Chalmers,Jennifer K Quint,Paul E Pfeffer,Salman ilahi Siddiqui,Samantha Walker,Krisnah Poinasamy,Hamish McAuley,Marco Sereno,Aarti Shikotra,Amisha Singapuri,Annemarie B Docherty,Michael Marks,Mark Toshner,Luke Howard,Alex Horsley,Gisli Jenkins,Joanna C. Porter,Ling-Pei Ho,Betty Raman,Louise V. Wain,Christopher E. Brightling,Rachael A. Evans,Liam G Heaney,Anthony De Soyza,Aziz Sheikh +32 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a multivariable logistic regression was used to identify risk factors and to develop a prediction model for post-COVID-19 breathlessness, which was associated with worse performance on the shuttle walk test and forced vital capacity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Illness representations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to inform health education strategies and research design-learning from rural Uganda.
Emily M. Nagourney,Nicole M Robertson,Natalie Rykiel,Trishul Siddharthan,Patricia Alupo,Marysol Encarnacion,Bruce Kirenga,Robert Kalyesubula,Shumonta Quaderi,John R. Hurst,William Checkley,Suzanne L. Pollard,GECo Study Investigators +12 more
TL;DR: Stakeholder groups showed concordance in identifying causal mechanisms of COPD, but showed disagreement in reasons for care seeking behaviors and treatment preferences, and the Illness Representations Model guided analysis.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Patient specific parameter thresholding to support domiciliary monitoring in COPD
TL;DR: It is shown that alarm rates vary by arbitrary versus patient specific thresholding, which was able to decrease the false alarms and reduce the volume of calls on the team.
Journal ArticleDOI
Overcoming Therapeutic Inertia to Reduce the Risk of COPD Exacerbations: Four Action Points for Healthcare Professionals
TL;DR: In this article, a multidisciplinary panel of five expert clinicians actively managing COPD and representative of UK practice developed action points to reduce exacerbation risk, based on evidence, clinical expertise, and experience.
