Scanning electron microscopic analysis of canal wall dentin following neodymium-yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser irradiation.

TL;DR: Scanning electron microscopic analysis showed the effects of lasing to vary from no effects to disruption of the smeared layer to actual melting and recrystallization of the dentin, depending on such factors as power level, duration of exposure, and color of the Dentin.
Journal ArticleDOI

A laser speckle imaging technique for measuring tissue perfusion

TL;DR: Results show that LSPI parameters can be chosen such that the instrumentation exhibits a similar response to changes in red blood cell concentration and velocity and, given its higher resolution and quicker response time, could provide a significant advantage over LDI for some applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pulsed quantum cascade laser-based cavity ring-down spectroscopy for ammonia detection in breath

TL;DR: A gas analyzer based on a pulsed mid-IR quantum cascade laser operating near 970 cm(-1) has been developed for the detection of ammonia levels in breath and is reported to have a sensitivity of approximately 50 parts per billion with a 20 s time resolution.
Patent

Motion measuring device

TL;DR: In this paper, an endoscopic apparatus for measuring blood flow contained within an enclosed body cavity is claimed, which consists of an electromagnetic radiation source for emitting a coherent beam, an optical relay system for propagating the beam down an endoscopy probe to illuminate a target within a body cavity, an image sensor for capturing the reflected light and transmitting an image of the illuminated region onto the surface of a two-dimensional image sensor, an analog to digital conversion device for capturing analog output signals from the image sensor and a display device for immediate visual display of captured images.
Journal ArticleDOI

Preclinical Assessment of Hypocrellin B and Hypocrellin B Derivatives as Sensitizers for Photodynamic Therapy of Cancer: Progress Update

TL;DR: In vitro screening of synthetic derivatives of the naturally occurring compound, hypocrellin B (HB), for optimal properties of cyto‐(dark) toxicity and phototoxicity resulted in selection of three compounds for preclinical evaluation: HBEA‐R1 (ethanolaminated HB), HBBA‐R2 (butylaminated HB) and HBDP‐R 1 [2‐(N,N‐dimethylami‐no)‐propylamine‐HB].
