Journal ArticleDOI

Arbuscular mycorrhiza of Berkheya coddii and other Ni-hyperaccumulating members of Asteraceae from ultramafic soils in South Africa

TL;DR: Plants cultivated under greenhouse conditions and inoculated with native fungi had a higher shoot biomass and Ni content than noninoculated plants, and Berkheya coddii, which is an important species for phytomining, formed well-developed mycorrhiza under greenhouse Conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spatial distribution of cadmium in leaves of metal hyperaccumulating Thlaspi praecox using micro-PIXE.

TL;DR: The mesophyll is indicated as a relatively large pool of Cd, possibly involved in Cd detoxification/dilution at the tissue and cellular level in field-collected cadmium/zinc hyperaccumulator Thlaspi praecox from an area polluted with heavy metals near a lead mine and smelter in Slovenia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nickel biopathways in tropical nickel hyperaccumulating trees from Sabah (Malaysia)

TL;DR: This study combines ion microbeam and RBS and metabolomics techniques to overcome the drawbacks of the individual techniques to quantitatively determine Ni distribution and Ni2+ chemical speciation in hyperaccumulator plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of mycorrhiza on the growth and elemental composition of Ni-hyperaccumulating plant Berkheya coddii Roessler.

TL;DR: The AMF enhancement of Ni uptake may provide an improvement of a presently used technique of nickel phytomining.
