Notes on Generalized Linear Models of Neurons
TL;DR: Parts of this work include extensions of a basic GLM to model spatio-temporal receptive fields as well as network activity in an arbitrary numbers of neurons.

Revisiting ResNets: Improved Training and Scaling Strategies
Irwan Bello,William Fedus,Xianzhi Du,Ekin D. Cubuk,Aravind Srinivas,Tsung-Yi Lin,Jonathon Shlens,Barret Zoph +7 more
TL;DR: Tan et al. as discussed by the authors revisited the canonical ResNet and found that training and scaling strategies may matter more than architectural changes, and further, that the resulting ResNets match recent state-of-the-art models.

Streaming Object Detection for 3-D Point Clouds
Wei Han,Zhengdong Zhang,Benjamin Caine,Brandon Yang,Christoph Sprunk,Ouais Alsharif,Jiquan Ngiam,Vijay K. Vasudevan,Jonathon Shlens,Zhifeng Chen +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, an object detector that operates on streaming data is proposed to reduce the amount of time required to complete a complete rotational scan (e.g. 100 ms) by treating the point cloud as a camera image.

Learning a neural response metric for retinal prosthesis
TL;DR: This work proposes a method to learn a metric on neural responses directly from recorded light responses of a population of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) in the primate retina and demonstrates that the learned metric leads to improvements in the performance of a retinal prosthesis.
