Magnesium potassium phosphate cements to immobilize radioactive concrete wastes generated by decommissioning of nuclear power plants

TL;DR: In this paper, the compressive strength of magnesium potassium phosphate cements (MKPCs) was evaluated for solidification of radioactive concrete powder wastes produced by the decommissioning of nuclear power plants.
Journal ArticleDOI

Compositional dependence of Se2− color center formation in silicate glasses

TL;DR: In this article, the formation of Se2− color centers that are responsible for a broad visible emission under optical excitation at UV wavelengths was verified within silicate glasses, and the role of Na2O in the formation mechanism in relation to glass structure was discussed in terms of various analyses on X-ray diffraction patterns, Xray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Raman spectra.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lead sulfide quantum dots in glasses controlled by silver diffusion

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the precipitation of PbS quantum dots (QDs) in silicate glasses controlled by Ag + ion diffusion and found that the size difference between regions containing Ag nano-particles (NPs) was larger than those in Ag + -free regions and this size difference was confirmed from transmission electron microscope images.
Journal ArticleDOI

Compositional dependences on the mechanism of upconversion in Nd3+/Tm3+ co-doped chalcohalide glasses

TL;DR: In this article, the compositional dependence of blue emission from Nd 3+ /Tm 3+ co-doped Ge-Ga-S-CsBr chalcohalide glasses was investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

New functional glasses containing semiconductor quantum dots

Kai Xu, +1 more
- 28 May 2010 -
TL;DR: In this article, CdSe and PbSe quantum dots were precipitated in oxide glass matrices and their optical properties were investigated, as evidenced by a shift in the peak wavelengths of absorption.
