Hydrophobic Recovery of Polydimethylsiloxane Elastomer Exposed to Partial Electrical Discharge
TL;DR: In this article, the hydrophobic recovery of polydimethylsiloxane elastomers was studied after exposure to partial electrical discharge, and it was shown that the recovery rates of the oxidized extracted samples are strongly influenced by the applied voltage, humidity, and aging condition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrophobicity loss and recovery of silicone HV insulation
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors reviewed the unique properties of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomers that make it suitable for HV applications and suggested that diffusion of low molecular weight PDMS components is the more important mechanism of hydrophobic recovery.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Mechanisms of Hydrophobic Recovery of Polydimethylsiloxane Elastomers Exposed to Partial Electrical Discharges
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the mechanisms contributing to the loss and recovery of hydrophobicity under lower energy partial discharges and found that at very low levels of energy pulses, the recovery is primarily caused by the migration of preexisting fluids from the bulk to the surface of the elastomer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modeling hydrophobic recovery of electrically discharged polydimethylsiloxane elastomers.
TL;DR: Modeling studies indicate that the faster recovery of the later samples may be due to the faster diffusion of the species produced from the fragmentation of the fluorinated siloxane fluid preexisting in the polymer during electrical discharge.
