Pregnancy and systemic lupus erythematosus: review of clinical features and outcome of 51 pregnancies at a single institution.
Graziela Carvalheiras,Pedro Vita,Susana Marta,Rita Trovão,Fátima Farinha,Jorge Braga,Guilherme Rocha,Isabel Almeida,António Marinho,Teresa Mendonça,Paulo Barbosa,João R. Correia,Carlos Vasconcelos +12 more
TL;DR: Pregnant women with SLE are high risk patients, but the authors had a 90% success rate in their cohort, and a control disease activity strategy to target clinical remission is essential.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fetal outcome in autoimmune diseases.
TL;DR: There is increasingly the hope that fetal outcome will be good if the disease is well controlled prior to pregnancy, and with a specialized interdisciplinary support.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of cannabis tetrahydrocannabinol on endocannabinoid homeostasis in human placenta.
João M. Maia,Luís Midão,Luís Midão,Sara C. Cunha,Marta Almada,Bruno M. Fonseca,Jorge Braga,Daniela C. Gonçalves,Natércia Teixeira,Georgina Correia-da-Silva +9 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that long-term local AEA levels are associated with a shift in the enzymatic profile to re-establish ECS homeostasis, which may disturb the delicate balance of trophoblast cells turnover leading to alterations in normal placental development and foetal growth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recurrent pregnancy loss and vitamin D: A review of the literature.
TL;DR: It seems that there are not differences in the vitamin D receptor (VDR) and CYP27B1 expression in endometrium of women with RPL but, in villous and decidual tissues, RPL women seem to have a decreased expression of VDR and, perhaps, a decreasedexpression of CYP 27B1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Myasthenia gravis in pregnancy: Experience of a portuguese center
TL;DR: A high rate of clinical worsening of MG in the mother was observed in this retrospective study, which highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach for avoiding maternal adverse outcomes.
