Earthworms Building Up Soil Microbiota, a Review
Regina M. Medina-Sauza,Marycruz Álvarez-Jiménez,Alix Delhal,Frédérique Reverchon,Manuel Blouin,José A. Guerrero-Analco,Carlos Cerdan,Roger Guevara,Luc Villain,Isabelle Barois +9 more
TL;DR: The objective of this review is to synthesize the existing literature concerning the influence of earthworms on the structure and function of soil microbial communities, as well as to understand how earthworm-induced changes in the soil microbiota would in turn impact soil processes, particularly those occurring in the rhizosphere and involved in plant growth and health.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria associated with avocado display antagonistic activity against Phytophthora cinnamomi through volatile emissions
Alfonso Méndez-Bravo,Elvis Marian Cortazar-Murillo,Edgar Guevara-Avendaño,Oscar Ceballos-Luna,Benjamín Rodríguez-Haas,Ana L. Kiel-Martínez,Orlando Hernández-Cristóbal,José A. Guerrero-Analco,Frédérique Reverchon +8 more
TL;DR: Evaluated rhizobacterial isolates obtained from the rhizosphere of healthy avocado trees and from that of avocado trees having survived root rot infestations suggest that these bacteria could be used for biocontrol of soil borne oomycetes through their volatiles emissions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Avocado rhizobacteria emit volatile organic compounds with antifungal activity against Fusarium solani, Fusarium sp. associated with Kuroshio shot hole borer, and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides.
Edgar Guevara-Avendaño,Alix Adriana Bejarano-Bolívar,Ana-Luisa Kiel-Martínez,Mónica Ramírez-Vázquez,Alfonso Méndez-Bravo,Eneas Aguirre von Wobeser,Diana Sánchez-Rangel,José A. Guerrero-Analco,Akif Eskalen,Frédérique Reverchon +9 more
TL;DR: The results support the potential of avocado rhizobacteria to act as biocontrol agents of avocado fungal pathogens and emphasize the importance of Bacillus spp.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antihyperglycemic effect of constituents from Hintonia standleyana in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.
José A. Guerrero-Analco,Paul Hersch-Martínez,José Pedraza-Chaverri,Andrés Navarrete,Rachel Mata +4 more
TL;DR: Results showed that the antihyperglycemic active principles of H. standleyana are both 4-phenylcoumarins and cucurbitacin glycosides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antifungal activity of avocado rhizobacteria against Fusarium euwallaceae and Graphium spp., associated with Euwallacea spp. nr. fornicatus, and Phytophthora cinnamomi.
Edgar Guevara-Avendaño,Joseph D. Carrillo,Cedric Ndinga-Muniania,Kevin Moreno,Alfonso Méndez-Bravo,José A. Guerrero-Analco,Akif Eskalen,Frédérique Reverchon +7 more
TL;DR: This is the first report of avocado rhizobacteria with antifungal activity against pathogens responsible for FD and PRR in avocado.
