Journal ArticleDOI
Immune checkpoint inhibitors in heart or lung transplantation: Early results from a registry initiative.
Anees Daud,Mandeep R. Mehra,Alfonso Siu,Maryl R. Johnson,Michael Perch,Marie Budev,Yousef Zakharia,Richard Cheng,Jose Nativi-Nicolau,Josef Stehlik +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Physiologic effects of continuous-flow left ventricular assist devices.
Aaron H. Healy,Stephen H. McKellar,Stavros G. Drakos,A. Koliopoulou,Josef Stehlik,Craig H. Selzman +5 more
TL;DR: Continuous-flow LVADs confer a significant advantage over their pulsatile-flow counterparts with regard to size and durability, and from a physiological standpoint, continuous-flow physiology has limited clinical effects at the organ system level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time-dependent changes in B-type natriuretic peptide after heart transplantation: correlation with allograft rejection and function.
Feras Bader,R. Kevin Rogers,Abdallah G. Kfoury,Edward M. Gilbert,Ben D. Horne,Josef Stehlik,Dale G. Renlund +6 more
TL;DR: In cardiac transplant recipients, BNP levels decrease in the first 6 months following transplant and then reach a plateau regardless of the presence, type, or severity of allograft rejection, although a noninvasive modality such as brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is attractive.
Journal ArticleDOI
Myocardial Structural and Functional Response After Long-Term Mechanical Unloading With Continuous Flow Left Ventricular Assist Device: Axial Versus Centrifugal Flow.
Mohammad Al-Sarie,A. Rauf,Abdallah G. Kfoury,Anna Catino,James Wever-Pinzon,Michael J. Bonios,Benjamin D. Horne,Nikolaos A. Diakos,Omar Wever-Pinzon,Stephen H. McKellar,Aaron Kelkhoff,Lauren McCreath,James C. Fang,Josef Stehlik,Craig H. Selzman,Stavros G. Drakos,Stavros G. Drakos +16 more
TL;DR: Long-term mechanical unloading induced by AX and CR LVADs, while operating within their routine clinical range, seems to exert comparable effects on myocardial structural and functional parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cocaine use in organ donors and long-term outcome after heart transplantation: An International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation registry analysis.
TL;DR: The findings demonstrate that adult HTx performed using DHCU is not associated with an adverse impact on long-term clinical outcomes and should spur efforts to reduce discard rates of organs from D HCU.
