Journal ArticleDOI

Choice of coordination number in d10 complexes of group 11 metals.

TL;DR: The larger deformation energy of gold complexes compared to copper and silver ones explains the predominance of dicoordination among Au(I) complexes, in comparison with Cu(I] and Ag(I), for which dICOordination is far less common than tri- and tetracoordination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Four-center carbon-carbon bonding.

TL;DR: The 2.89-A intradimer separation for cofacial [TCNE]2(2-) (TCNE = tetracyanoethylene) dimers is twice that of conventional C-C bonds but approximately 0.6 A shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exceptionally Long (≥2.9 Å) C−C Bonds between [TCNE]− Ions: Two‐Electron, Four‐Center π*–π* C−C Bonding in π‐[TCNE]22−

TL;DR: Crystallographic as well as spectroscopic features of this bonding are observed and are described as two-electron, four-center bonding arising from π*-π* overlap.
Journal ArticleDOI

The C–H⋯π bonds: strength, identification, and hydrogen-bonded nature: a theoretical study

TL;DR: In this paper, the MP2 method and a basis set-up to aug-cc-pVTZ quality were used to investigate the properties of C-H⋯π bonds in model dimers.
