Journal Article

Plasminogen Activator Activity and Composition in Human Breast Cancer

TL;DR: No correlation was found between activator activity or activator composition, and the degree of differentiation of the tumors, the fraction of positive lymph nodes found, or the amount of estrogen-binding protein in the cytosol of the tumor tumors, on the other.
Journal Article

Plasminogen Activator Secretion of Human Tumors in Short-Term Organ Culture, Including a Comparison of Primary and Metastatic Colon Tumors

TL;DR: The measurement of plasminogen activator secretion rates gives a much sharper differentiation between malignant and normal tissues than does the amount of extractable enzyme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasminogen Activators in Human Malignant Melanoma

TL;DR: Metastatic malignant melanomas from 16 patients, extracted with Triton X-100, were analyzed for plasminogen activator activity by azocaseinolysis, showing this enzyme to be localized mainly in the cell membrane of the melanoma cells; stromal elements showed no specific staining.
Journal ArticleDOI

Secretion of plasminogen activators by human colorectal and gastric tumor explants.

TL;DR: It is postulated that the greatly reduced plasminogen activator secretion by explants of metastatic tumors may be a phenotypic characteristic of distinct advantage for cancer cells destined to initiate metastatic foci, and may contribute to the ability of circulating cancer cells to lodge in the blood vessels of the target organ.
