Presence of a p53 Gene Deletion in Patients With Multiple Myeloma Predicts for Short Survival After Conventional-Dose Chemotherapy
Johannes Drach,Jutta Ackermann,Elke Fritz,Elisabeth Krömer,Rudolf Schuster,Heinz Gisslinger,Maria DeSantis,Niklas Zojer,Michael Fiegl,S. Roka,Judith Schuster,Renate Heinz,Heinz Ludwig,Heinz Huber +13 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that a p53 gene deletion, which can be identified by interphase FISH in almost a third of patients with newly diagnosed MM, is a novel prognostic factor predicting for short survival of MM patients treated with conventional-dose chemotherapy.
Journal Article
Multiple Myeloma: High Incidence of Chromosomal Aneuploidy as Detected by Interphase Fluorescence in Situ Hybridization
Johannes Drach,Judith Schuster,Hadwiga Nowotny,Jutta Angerler,Friederike Rosenthal,Michael Fiegl,Christian Rothermundt,Andrea Gsur,Ulrich Jäger,Renate Heinz,Klaus Lechner,Heinz Ludwig,Heinz Huber +12 more
TL;DR: Interphase FISH, by which chromosomal aneuploidy was detected in almost 90% of patients with MM, represents an approach for evaluating the clinical significance of specific chromosomal abnormalities in MM.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prediction of response to erythropoietin treatment in chronic anemia of cancer [see comments]
Heinz Ludwig,Elke Fritz,Clemens Leitgeb,Martin Pecherstorfer,Hellmut Samonigg,Judith Schuster +5 more
TL;DR: Eighty patients with chronic anemia of cancer undergoing treatment with rHuEPO and various cytokines; neopterin; stem cell factor; C- reactive protein; and alpha 1-antitrypsin participated in this study, and the following predictive algorithm was developed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prediction of response to erythropoietin treatment in chronic anemia of cancer.
Heinz Ludwig,Elke Fritz,Clemens Leitgeb,Martin Pecherstorfer,Hellmut Samonigg,Judith Schuster +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used multivariate discriminant analysis and logistic regression analysis to predict response in patients with chronic anemia of cancer undergoing treatment with recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO).
Journal ArticleDOI
Interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization identifies chromosomal abnormalities in plasma cells from patients with monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance
Johannes Drach,Jutta Angerler,Jutta Angerler,Judith Schuster,Judith Schuster,Christian Rothermundt,Christian Rothermundt,Renate Thalhammer,Renate Thalhammer,Oskar A. Haas,Oskar A. Haas,Ulrich Jäger,Ulrich Jäger,Michael Fiegl,Michael Fiegl,Klaus Geissler,Klaus Geissler,Heinz Ludwig,Heinz Ludwig,Heinz Huber,Heinz Huber +20 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that MGUS already has the chromosomal characteristics of a plasma cell malignancy.
