Reactivation of Genital Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 Infection in Asymptomatic Seropositive Persons
Anna Wald,Judith Zeh,Stacy Selke,Terri Warren,Alexander J. Ryncarz,Rhoda Ashley,John N. Krieger,Lawrence Corey +7 more
TL;DR: Seropositivity for HSV-2 is associated with viral shedding in the genital tract, even in subjects with no reported history of genital herpes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Virologic characteristics of subclinical and symptomatic genital herpes infections.
TL;DR: Among women with a history of genital herpes infection, subclinical shedding ofHSV is common and accounts for nearly one third of the total days of reactivation of HSV infection in the genital tract.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of serologic status and cesarean delivery on transmission rates of herpes simplex virus from mother to infant.
TL;DR: Neonatal HSV infection rates can be reduced by preventing maternal acquisition of genital HSV-1 andHSV-2 infection near term and limiting the use of invasive monitors among women shedding HSV at the time of labor.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of serologic status and cesarean delivery on transmission rates of herpes simplex virus from mother to infant
TL;DR: No data exist on whether cesarean delivery, the standard of care for women with genital herpes lesions at the time of delivery, reduces HSV transmission, but neonatal HSV infection rates can be reduced by preventing maternal acquisition of genital HSV-1 andHSV-2 infection near term.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age and growth estimates of bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus) via aspartic acid racemization
John C. George,Jeffrey L. Bada,Judith Zeh,Laura Scott,Stephen E. Brown,Todd M. O'Hara,Robert Suydam +6 more
TL;DR: A total of 48 eye globes were collected and analyzed to estimate ages of bowhead whales using the aspartic acid racemization technique, and growth appears faster for females than males, and age at sexual maturity occurs at around 25 years of age.
