Journal Article
Comparison of a new type of polytetrafluoroethylene patch (Mycro Mesh) and polypropylene prosthesis (Marlex) for repair of abdominal wall defects.
TL;DR: The tissue integration of the PL and MM implants differed; fewer visceral adhesions formed on MM than on PL; the macrophage reaction was not determinant of the success of failure of either biomaterial; and the tensile strength of the prosthesis-receptor tissue interface was much greater in the PL implants than in the MM implants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nutritional Components in Western Diet Versus Mediterranean Diet at the Gut Microbiota-Immune System Interplay. Implications for Health and Disease.
Cielo García-Montero,Oscar Fraile-Martínez,Ana M Gómez-Lahoz,Leonel Pekarek,Alejandro J. Castellanos,Fernando Noguerales-Fraguas,Santiago Coca,Santiago Coca,Luis G. Guijarro,Natalio García-Honduvilla,Natalio García-Honduvilla,Ángel Asúnsolo,Ángel Asúnsolo,Lara Sanchez-Trujillo,Lara Sanchez-Trujillo,Guillermo Lahera,Guillermo Lahera,Julia Buján,Julia Buján,Jorge Monserrat,Jorge Monserrat,Melchor Alvarez-Mon,Miguel Angel Alvarez-Mon,Miguel A Ortega +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, the regulatory role of nutritional components of WD and MD in the gut microbiota and immune system interplay, in order to understand, and create awareness of, the influence of diet over both key components.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fibroblasts from the transversalis fascia of young patients with direct inguinal hernias show constitutive MMP-2 overexpression.
Juan M. Bellón,Ana Bajo,Natalio Ga-Honduvilla,M.J. Gimeno,Gemma Pascual,Ana Guerrero,Julia Buján +6 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that MMP-2 may be involved in the TF matrix degradative process in patients with direct hernia, suggesting a genetic defect or irreversible change as the origin of this pathology rather than environmental factors, which may later participate in the development of the hernial process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Age-related changes in the elastic tissue of the human aorta.
Olaf Fritze,Beatriz Romero,Martina Schleicher,Marie Paule Jacob,Djin-Ye Oh,Barry Starcher,Katja Schenke-Layland,Julia Buján,Ulrich A. Stock +8 more
TL;DR: The findings indicate that ageing is accompanied by a destruction of the elastic vascular structure in human aortic blood vessels, and tropoelastin expression analysis suggests that elastogenesis occurs throughout life with constantly decreasing levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Signal Transduction Pathways in Breast Cancer: The Important Role of PI3K/Akt/mTOR.
Miguel A Ortega,Oscar Fraile-Martínez,Ángel Asúnsolo,Julia Buján,Julia Buján,Natalio García-Honduvilla,Natalio García-Honduvilla,Santiago Coca,Santiago Coca +8 more
TL;DR: The present review aims to understand the current state of this important disease and the paths that must be forged in patients with breast cancer.
