Surface magnetoelectric effect in ferromagnetic metal films.
Chun-Gang Duan,Julian P. Velev,Renat Sabirianov,Renat Sabirianov,Ziqiang Zhu,Junhao Chu,Sitaram Jaswal,Evgeny Y. Tsymbal +7 more
TL;DR: A surface magnetoelectric effect is revealed by density-functional calculations that are applied to ferromagnetic Fe(001), Ni(001, and Co(0001) films in the presence of an external electric field.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multi-ferroic and magnetoelectric materials and interfaces
TL;DR: Here, the field of multi-ferroic (MF) and magnetoelectric (ME) materials is reviewed, putting the emphasis on electronic effects at ME interfaces and MF tunnel junctions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Ferroelectricity on Electron Transport in Pt / BaTiO 3 / Pt Tunnel Junctions
TL;DR: The impact of the electric polarization on electron transport in ferroelectric tunnel junctions (FTJs) is demonstrated and exciting prospects that FTJs offer as resistive switches in nanoscale electronic devices are revealed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Tailoring magnetic anisotropy at the ferromagnetic/ferroelectric interface
Chun-Gang Duan,Chun-Gang Duan,Julian P. Velev,Renat Sabirianov,Wai-Ning Mei,Sitaram Jaswal,Evgeny Y. Tsymbal +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate that a reversal of the electric polarization of BaTiO3 bilayer produces a sizable change in magnetic anisotropy energy of Fe films, which may yield entirely new device concepts, such as electric-field controlled magnetic data storage.
