Journal ArticleDOI

Dissecting the mycobacterial cell envelope and defining the composition of the native mycomembrane.

TL;DR: The plasma membranes and the native MM-containing cell walls of two rapid-growing mycobacterial species, Mycobacterium aurum and M. smegmatis, were isolated from their cell lysates by differential ultracentrifugation and biochemical analyses demonstrated that the two membranes were virtually pure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Twenty Years of Gas Phase Structural Biology

TL;DR: Recent progress in the study of protein complexes is considered, focusing particularly on complexes extracted from membranes, and future prospects for gas phase structural biology are outlined.
Journal ArticleDOI

Steroid-based facial amphiphiles for stabilization and crystallization of membrane proteins.

TL;DR: In this article, a family of steroid-based facial amphiphiles (FAs) was developed to stabilize MPs and form relatively small protein-detergent complexes (PDCs), a property considered favorable for MP crystallization.
