Journal ArticleDOI

A biomimetic approach to enhancing interfacial interactions: polydopamine-coated clay as reinforcement for epoxy resin.

TL;DR: It is found that the strong interfacial interactions brought by the polydopamine benefits not only the dispersion of the D-clay in the epoxy but also the effective interfacial stress transfer, leading to greatly improved thermomechanical properties at very low inorganic loadings.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epoxy/polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) hybrid networks cured with an anhydride: Cure kinetics and thermal properties

TL;DR: In this paper, a new class of organic-inorganic hybrid networks was prepared via copolymerization of octakis(dimethylsiloxybutyl epoxide)octasilsesquioxane (OB), N,N,N′,N-tetraglycidyl-4,4′-diaminodiphenyl methane (TGDDM) and hexahydrophthalic anhydride (HHPA).
Journal ArticleDOI

Catalytic and reinforcing effects of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS)-imidazolium modified clay in an anhydride-cured epoxy

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported novel epoxy-based hybrid prepared via incorporating 1,2-dimethyl-3-(benzyl-heptaisobutyl-POSS) imidazolium chloride (POSS-IMC) and POSS-modified clay (pOSS-MMT) into the resin based on 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl 3, 4-epoxylmethyl (ECHM) and hexahydrophthalic anhydride (HHPA).
