Journal ArticleDOI

Anti-platelet drugs and outcome in severe infection: clinical impact and underlying mechanisms.

TL;DR: It is shown that clopidogrel suppressed endotoxin-induced up-regulation of inflammation-relevant genes, including arachidonate-5-lipoxygenase activating protein and leukotriene B4 receptor 1, which could lead to a possible benefit of anti-platelet drugs in patients on risk for systemic inflammation and organ failure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Peripheral infusion of rat bone marrow derived endothelial progenitor cells leads to homing in acute lung injury

TL;DR: Transplanted EPC may play an important role in reestablishing the endothelial integrity in vessels after severe injury or at inflamatory sites and might further contribute to vascular repair or wound healing processes in severely damaged tissue.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pulmonary fibrosis with predominant CD8 lymphocytic alveolitis and anti-Jo-1 antibodies

TL;DR: It is suggested that this form of interstitial lung disease apparently has a poor response to steroids and cytotoxic drugs, but may respond to moderate doses of cyclosporine and azathioprine in addition to low doses of steroids.
Journal ArticleDOI

Superior vena cava syndrome in thoracic malignancies.

TL;DR: This review gives an interdisciplinary overview of the pathophysiology, etiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment of malignant SVCS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Osteoporosis in patients undergoing lung transplantation.

TL;DR: Evaluation of bone mass and prevention of bone loss should be considered early before lung transplantation, and the efficacy of antiresorptive drugs on the prevention of accelerated bone loss and vertebral fractures after transplantation is needed.
