Journal ArticleDOI

A comparison of pulsed and steady-state tokamak reactor burn cycles. Part II: Magnet fatigue, power supplies, and cost analysis

TL;DR: In this article, the authors focus on lifetime limitations and capital costs of tokamak subsystems in an attempt to quantify sensitivity to pulsed operation and make a comparison of different operating cycles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tokamak MHD equilibrium generation by narrow-spectrum fast-wave current drive

TL;DR: In this article, the selfconsistent theory of RF current drive in an axisymmetric torus is used to compute the MHD equilibrium generated by the fast (magnetosonic) wave current driver.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lower hybrid heating and current drive system for a tokamak reactor

TL;DR: In this article, a lower hybrid heating system was designed for heating a tokamak reactor to ignition and for sustaining steady-state operation by driving the toroidal plasma current, and the power spectrum from an active/passive waveguide grill was computed, and a resulting equilibrium current density profile was computed from a full electromagnetic WKB analysis of wave propagation in a cylinder.
