Journal ArticleDOI
Biosorption of zinc from aqueous solutions using biosolids
TL;DR: The potential to remove zinc from aqueous solutions through biosorption using biosolids was investigated in this article, where it was shown that dilute zinc solutions reached equilibrium within 5 h, whereas equilibrium was not reached until 24 h for more concentrated solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fouling in reverse osmosis (RO) membrane in water recovery from secondary effluent: a review
TL;DR: In this paper, a review was performed to identify major foulants causing hindrance in sustainable application of reverse osmosis and to present available pre-treatment options for these foulants.
Journal ArticleDOI
Thin film nanocomposite nanofiltration membranes from amine functionalized-boron nitride/polypiperazine amide with enhanced flux and fouling resistance
TL;DR: In this paper, a thin film composite (TFC) nanofiltration (NF) membranes were fabricated through the incorporation of amine functionalized-boron nitride, BN(NH2), nanosheets within the polypiperazine amide (PPA) active layer during the interfacial polymerization (IP) process to improve the fouling resistance of membranes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantification of potable water savings by residential water conservation and reuse – A case study
TL;DR: Sharland Oasis as discussed by the authors is a family house designed and built according to an ecologically sustainable design for improved water and energy efficiency in regional Victoria in Australia, where the combined use of alternative water supplies together with water efficient appliances can save up to 77% of total potable water use compared to the average 1990s household water use.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance evaluation of different ultrafiltration membranes for the reclamation and reuse of secondary effluent
TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of two different types of ultrafiltration (UF) membranes in the recovery of water from secondary treated wastewater was investigated and compared and compared with a pilot scale cross-flow unit using synthetic wastewater similar to the quality of primary treated wastewater by varying the operating parameters such as transmembrane pressure, feed composition and membrane configuration.
