TL;DR: The prevalence of lactate oxidation over pyruvate reduction and the occurrence of a high SDH/FR ratio within the spermatheca, together with the spermatozoal oxygen uptake, strongly suggest that, while stored in the spermatozoa of M. messor rely on aerobic metabolism.
