Journal ArticleDOI
Concentration and purification by magnetic separation of the erythrocytic stages of all human Plasmodium species
Clotilde Ribaut,Antoine Berry,Séverine Chevalley,Karine Reybier,Isabelle Morlais,Daniel Parzy,Françoise Nepveu,Françoise Benoit-Vical,Françoise Benoit-Vical,Alexis Valentin +9 more
TL;DR: An adaptation of magnetic MACS® columns for the purification of human Plasmodium species is presented and was useful for the concentration/purification of either schizonts or gametocytes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Free Superoxide is an Intermediate in the Production of H2O2 by Copper(I)-Aβ Peptide and O2.
Karine Reybier,Sara Ayala,Sara Ayala,Bruno Alies,Bruno Alies,João V. Rodrigues,João V. Rodrigues,Susana Bustos Rodriguez,Susana Bustos Rodriguez,Giovanni La Penna,Fabrice Collin,Claudio Emanuel Gomes,Claudio Emanuel Gomes,Christelle Hureau,Christelle Hureau,Peter Faller,Peter Faller +16 more
TL;DR: An electrochemical setup is implemented and the specificity of superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD1) is used to show, for the first time, that H2O2 production by Cu-Aβ in the presence of ascorbate occurs mainly via a free O2˙(-) intermediate, which radically changes the view on the catalytic mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and antiplasmodial activity of new indolone N-oxide derivatives.
Françoise Nepveu,Sothea Kim,Jeremie Boyer,Olivier Chatriant,Hany Ibrahim,Karine Reybier,Marie-Carmen Monje,Séverine Chevalley,Pierre Perio,Barbora Lajoie,Jalloul Bouajila,Eric Deharo,Michel Sauvain,Rachida Tahar,Leonardo K. Basco,Antonella Pantaleo,Francesco Turini,Paolo Arese,Alexis Valentin,Eloise Thompson,Livia Vivas,Serge Petit,Jean-Pierre Nallet +22 more
TL;DR: In in vivo experiments, compound 1 (dioxymethylene derivatives of the indolone-N-oxide) showed the best antiplasmodial activity against Plasmodium berghei, 62% inhibition of the parasitaemia at 30 mg/kg/day.
Journal ArticleDOI
Insights into the redox cycle of human quinone reductase 2
Karine Reybier,Pierre Perio,Gilles Ferry,Jalloul Bouajila,Philippe Delagrange,Jean A. Boutin,Françoise Nepveu +6 more
TL;DR: EPR analysis of QR2 enzyme activity through free radical production enables modulators and effective inhibitors to be distinguished.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to study physiological changes affecting the red blood cell after invasion by malaria parasites.
Clotilde Ribaut,Karine Reybier,Olivier Reynes,Jérôme Launay,Alexis Valentin,Paul Louis Fabre,Françoise Nepveu +6 more
TL;DR: The results show that the RBC-based device may help to analyze strategic events in the malaria parasite development constituting a new tool in antimalarial research.
