Transcriptional analysis of HIV-specific CD8 + T cells shows that PD-1 inhibits T cell function by upregulating BATF
Michael Quigley,Florencia Pereyra,Björn Nilsson,Filippos Porichis,Catia Fonseca,Quentin Eichbaum,Boris Julg,Jonathan L. Jesneck,Jonathan L. Jesneck,Kathleen Brosnahan,Sabrina Imam,Kate Russell,Ildiko Toth,Alicja Piechocka-Trocha,Douglas V. Dolfi,Jill M. Angelosanto,Alison Crawford,Haina Shin,Douglas S. Kwon,Jennifer Zupkosky,Loise M. TL;DR: It is shown that PD-1 coordinately upregulates a program of genes in exhausted CD8+ T cells from humans and mice that includes upregulation of basic leucine transcription factor, ATF-like (BATF), a transcription factor in the AP-1 family that inhibit T cell function.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transmission of Zika Virus Through Sexual Contact with Travelers to Areas of Ongoing Transmission - Continental United States, 2016.
Susan L. Hills,Kate Russell,Morgan Hennessey,Charnetta Williams,Alexandra M. Oster,Marc Fischer,Paul S. Mead +6 more
TL;DR: Men who reside in or have traveled to an area of ongoing Zika virus transmission and have a pregnant partner should abstain from sexual activity or consistently and correctly use condoms during sex with their pregnant partner for the duration of the pregnancy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Update: Interim Guidance for the Evaluation and Management of Infants with Possible Congenital Zika Virus Infection - United States, August 2016.
TL;DR: Lab testing is recommended for infants born to mothers with laboratory evidence of Zika virus infection during pregnancy and infants who have abnormal clinical or neuroimaging findings suggestive of congenital Zika syndrome and a maternal epidemiologic link suggesting possible transmission, regardless of maternal Zika virus test results.
Journal ArticleDOI

Rasmussen +21 more
TL;DR: Recommendations on counseling women and men with possible Zika virus exposure who are interested in conceiving are included, based on limited available data on persistence of Zika virus RNA in blood and semen.
Journal ArticleDOI
Update: Interim Guidance for Prevention of Sexual Transmission of Zika Virus — United States, 2016

TL;DR: These recommendations replace the previously issued recommendations and are updated to include time intervals after travel to areas with active Zika virus transmission or after Zika virus infection for taking precautions to reduce the risk for sexual transmission.
