Scaling of a small scale burner fire whirl

TL;DR: In this paper, the behavior of a fire whirl generated using a burner is examined using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) using two staggered cylinder halves that surround the burner.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of the Flow Field of Fire Whirl

TL;DR: In this article, a small-scale fire whirl with pool diameter of 5 cm was produced by a fixed-frame type facility with two split cylinders, and the tangential, axial and radial velocity profiles in the central vertical plane of the fire WHirl at different gap sizes (2.54 cm, 3.81 cm, 5.08 cm, 6.35 cm, 7.62 cm) were measured using stereo particle image velocimetry.
Journal ArticleDOI

The interaction of double burner fire whirls

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed description of double burner fire whirls is given, where two burners are placed symmetrically about the center of a fixed frame, and the flame from each burner sweeps along the ground until it reaches the point midway between the burners.
