Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of a universal prehospital termination of resuscitation clinical prediction rule for advanced and basic life support providers
Laurie J. Morrison,Laurie J. Morrison,P. Richard Verbeek,P. Richard Verbeek,Cathy Zhan,Alex Kiss,Katherine S. Allan +6 more
TL;DR: Implementing the basic life support rule as a universal termination of resuscitation clinical prediction rule would result in a lower overall transport rate without missing any potential survivors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Derivation and evaluation of a termination of resuscitation clinical prediction rule for advanced life support providers
Laurie J. Morrison,Laurie J. Morrison,P. Richard Verbeek,P. Richard Verbeek,Marian J. Vermeulen,Marian J. Vermeulen,Alex Kiss,Katherine S. Allan,Lisa Nesbitt,Ian G. Stiell +9 more
TL;DR: A new ALS TOR clinical prediction rule based on these variables was 100% sensitive for survival and had 100% negative predictive value (95% CI 99.9-100) for death.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sudden Cardiac Arrest during Participation in Competitive Sports.
Cameron Landry,Katherine S. Allan,Kim A. Connelly,Kris S. Cunningham,Laurie J. Morrison,Paul Dorian +5 more
TL;DR: In this study involving persons who had out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest, the incidence of sudden cardiac arrest during participation in competitive sports was 0.76 cases per 100,000 athlete‐years, with 43.8% of the athletes surviving until they were discharged from the hospital.
Journal ArticleDOI
Formation of biphasic constructs containing cartilage with a calcified zone interface.
Katherine S. Allan,Robert M. Pilliar,Jian Wang,Marc D. Grynpas,Marc D. Grynpas,Rita A. Kandel,Rita A. Kandel +6 more
TL;DR: Developing a biphasic construct with a calcified zone at the tissue-biomaterial interface resulted in significantly better cartilage load-bearing (compressive) properties and interfacial shear strength, emphasizing the importance of the presence of a mineralized zone in bioengineered cartilage.
Journal ArticleDOI
Versican Enhances Locomotion of Astrocytoma Cells and Reduces Cell Adhesion through Its G1 Domain
Lee Cyn Ang,Yaou Zhang,Liu Cao,Bing L. Yang,Beverley Young,Chris Kiani,Vivian Lee,Katherine S. Allan,Burton B. Yang +8 more
TL;DR: The present data suggest that versican exerts its effect on astrocytoma cell migration and adhesion through the G1 domain.
