Letter confusions and reversals of sequence in the beginning reader: implications for Orton's theory of developmental dyslexia.

TL;DR: Reading ability assessed by the analytic test composed of isolated words was highly correlated with reading proficiency on a conventional paragraphs test, which suggests that the problems of the beginning reader have more to do with word construction than with strategies for scanning connected text.

Dual Processing of Open- and Closed-Class Words

TL;DR: Dysfluencies were greater on closed-class items and contributed to greater overall reading time for the closed- class words, consistent with a two-route model for the production of closed- and open-class lexical items in Broca's aphasics and, thus, normals.
